Stylists, gardeners and fashionistas, here's a rare chance to visit seven fabulous private homes and gardens. On Saturday 27th March, 2010, seven of Martinborough's most exclusive properties will be opened to the public from 10 in the morning to 5pm. This is not simply a garden tour, but an opportunity to explore the interiors of homes, ranging from the award-winning contemporary architecture of Chris Kelly to the lovingly maintained properties of Martinborough's founding families. This is a unique chance to see inside homes of this country's premier wine-makers, or where New Zealand's canniest top executives escape to unwind - none of these homes or gardens has ever previously been open to the public. Ticket holders will be allocated to one of three (extra to the above) idyllic venues - a vineyard, or one of two tranquil gardens to relax with live music and a gourmet picnic lunch. Visitors will feast their eyes on contemporary New Zealand artworks, European furnishings, theme-decorated table settings, water features, and wander through Mediterranean olive groves, extraordinary gardens and outdoor sculptures. All proceeds will go to the Martinborough St Andrew's Anglican Church hall renovations. This beautiful and historic church will also be decorated with a wedding theme for viewing. Martinborough wines, and Pimms will be sold by the glass and non-alcoholic beverages will be complimentary. Tour will be held wet or fine, no refunds. And please, no children, babies, or dogs. |
